All bikers sense that far too soon our rides on earth will cease,
The urgency to see some sights continues to increase.
Thus, year by year, we make our plans to journey here and there,
And build some happy memories, which with others we can share.
We're not concerned about the risks that many seem to fear,
But truthfully, we all agree, we age a year each year!
This thought can help to make us reach for meaning in our days,
And as it does it helps us change in some important ways.
The scenes we see, the folks we meet, are treasured more and more,
And sharing is more pleasant now, than adding up the score.
But what of folks like us who love to ride from here to there?
We cannot reach our goal each day by failing to prepare.
We check our fuel, our maps, our tires, to make our trips worthwhile,
And then we head out, wind in face, to cover happy miles.
We'd think it silly, you and I, to overlook these facts,
But sometimes, in our daily lives, we're guilty of just that.
We need a purpose day by day while trav'lling through this life,
Our eyes should search for ways to miss the accidents and strife,
Our rides take different twists and turns through valleys, mists and
storms,
But there's a great trip Captain, and to Him my heart feels warm.
He knows the roads I'm facing and He's been this way before,
I'll let Him take the lead until I reach the final shore.
The One who made the mountains and the streams we all enjoy,
Created them for bikers and for others with their "toys"!
Our bikes can be a way to join for service and for fun,
To help some folks who are in need is naming only one.
The fear of riders such as we, can slowly be removed,
By loving God and serving man, our reputations proved.
So let's just keep on biking on this ride to heaven's gate,
But get to know the Captain, there's no need for you to wait!
Then when the bridge is seen and crossed to rides of endless days,
We'll join in giving thanks to Captain Jesus with our praise!
