Soaring Eagles
By: Barbara Waters

Proud and Beautiful - an eagle on wing
Rising with the currents against a noonday sky
Dipping and twirling close beside -
A young bird fresh from the nest
The training has begun!

More thrust with the wings . . .
Don't work quite so hard
There, see - you're FLYING!

You've found your freedom!

On a recent spring day I observed one of my favorite sights - an adult eagle taking a young one out for a flying lesson. The parent stretched its wings and caught the currents. The juvenile, younger, less experienced, worked its wings twice as hard - twice as often.
Suddenly the adult would fold its wings, dip and twirl off in a different direction. Again the juvenile would be there in the other's wake. Never too far behind, always within sight.
Seeing this patient lesson reminded me of what we, as motorcycle enthusiasts, strive to do. When someone, a novice, comes to us and wants to ride along, but is unsure because of lack of experience, it is time for us to take them "under wing."
Onto the roads we go - never pushing, but gently guiding with out actions. "Dip", "Twirl", - never too far behind, always within sight.

     See - You're RIDING!
