Sometimes
people inquire about the benefits of being a VOC member. We receive
discounts from participating dealers and motels such as the Super
8. We also receive discounts from car rental places. We get a patch,
a directory and a newsletter. These are some of the benefits we receive.
But to me, the best benefit of being a VOC member is one simple little
fact. Without the VOC I would have never ventured beyond my local
area. If I did not belong to the VOC I never would have gone to Virginia
or Nevada where the Family Reunion was held. I never would have gone
to other rallies that were held at Niagara Falls, Michigan or even
Southern Illinois, which is in my own state.
Don't
get me wrong; it's not just the riding, that's only half of it. When
you get to the rally, reunion, or whatever rides you are attending,
you have the sense of belonging. Even meeting someone for the first
time, you feel as if you've known these people forever. When it's
time to leave, you don't want to go. When you see these same people
again at another ride, you pick up right where you left off. I don't
think there is anyone out there that hasn't felt the same way when
they attended one of these functions.
What's
the VOC done for me? It's made me be social. Since I've been with
the VOC I've made more friends, have more places to go and things
to do than I have ever had before! The best thing about all of this
is that we all have something in common, we all like to ride and share
our experience. Whether you're a one-up rider or a two-up rider, it
just simple doesn't matter
Yah,
the discounts are fine and so are some of the freebies, but it's the
get-togethers with other riders that matter, either on the local or
national level. Each offers their own special kind of fellowship with
other riders.
